State WIC Income Guidelines

One of the main requirements to determine if someone is eligible for WIC benefits is the WIC Income Guidelines. Applicants must have income at or below an income level or standard set by the state or be determined income-eligible automatically based on receiving benefits from other state welfare programs.

WIC Income Standard

The state agency's WIC income standard must be between 100% of the Federal poverty guidelines, but it cannot be more than 185% of the Federal poverty income guidelines.

Automatic WIC Income Eligibility

In some cases, certain WIC applicants can be deemed income-eligible for the WIC program based on their participation in certain programs. These include individuals who are eligible to receive SNAP, Medicaid or TANF benefits in their state. In which certain members of the family are eligible to receive Medicaid or TANF, or at the option of the state agency, individuals who are eligible to participate in certain state administrated programs other than WIC.
