Oregon WIC Approved Foods
Updated September 2026
Once you're approved for Oregon WIC, your benefits are loaded monthly onto a WIC card that works like a debit card at authorized stores. Here's what's covered, how to check whether a specific brand or item is approved, and how the cash-value benefit for fruits and vegetables works.
Quick Answer
Oregon WIC covers the same national food categories as every state — milk, eggs, cereal, whole grains, fruits and vegetables (via a cash-value benefit), juice, beans, and infant formula — but the specific approved brands, sizes, and quantities are set by the Oregon Health Authority. See the full Oregon list below.
Approved WIC Foods in Oregon
Oregon WIC food benefits are loaded monthly onto an eWIC card accepted at WIC-authorized grocery stores and pharmacies across all 36 counties. Your specific food package depends on your category — pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum, infant, or child — and is set by a WIC-certified professional at your appointment. A recent statewide food list update brought more variety and flexibility, including gluten-free, vegan, and allergen-free options, so families can better match WIC foods to cultural and dietary needs.
Food Categories
- Dairy: Milk, cheese, and yogurt, with lactose-free and soy-based options for eligible participants.
- Eggs: Any color, whole or liquid pasteurized.
- Whole grains: Iron-fortified cereals, whole wheat bread, brown rice, whole grain tortillas, and whole wheat pasta.
- Fruits and vegetables: A monthly Cash Value Benefit (CVB) loaded to your eWIC card for fresh, frozen, and canned produce without added sugar.
- Legumes and peanut butter: Dried and canned beans, peas, lentils, and peanut butter.
- Tofu: Calcium-set tofu as a protein alternative for eligible participants.
- Juice: 100% fruit or vegetable juice, unsweetened.
- Infant foods: Iron-fortified infant cereal, jarred baby food, and WIC-approved formula. Medical formulas require documentation from a healthcare provider.
Cash Value Benefit for Fruits and Vegetables
Every participant gets a monthly Cash Value Benefit to spend on fresh, frozen, or canned fruits and vegetables: $26 a month for children, $48 for pregnant or postpartum participants, and $52 for breastfeeding participants. This benefit does not roll over month to month, so use it before your benefit period ends.
Farm Direct Nutrition Program
Oregon runs its own state-administered farmers' market benefit — the Farm Direct Nutrition Program — separate from your regular monthly eWIC benefits. Enrolled WIC participants receive Farm Direct Dollars, paper checks worth $4 each, to spend on fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and cut edible herbs at participating farm stands and farmers' markets from June 1 through November 30. Only Oregon-grown produce qualifies (no bananas, oranges, or pineapples), each check must be spent in full since farmers can't make change, and lost or stolen checks can't be replaced. In 2025, Oregon WIC families spent more than $630,000 in Farm Direct Dollars at 752 participating farms. Find authorized farm stands and markets at myoregonfarm.farm.
